I almost turned it off, but I didnt and thankfully, im glad I didnt, cause while LIFES A TRIP is by no amazing, but its highs are unbelievably high and made me a fan. If not, I’d just advise you look up the two tracks I praised and leave the rest alone.Trippie Redd has shared the tracklist as well as the cover art for his upcoming Trip at Knight LP. If you’re a fan of Trippie’s vocal style then this is the album you’ve waited for. “Forever Ever” is a good track too but I credit that to Young Thug. I have a hard time disagreeing when I’m only gonna replay two tracks out of 14. Overall, I feel like this album fluctuates a lot throughout it’s run-time and I’d completely understand if someone said the payoff wasn’t worth it. I think that’s a really interesting perception. The song is “Oomp’s Revenge” because Trippie is saying his fallen brother lives through him. “Oomp’s Revenge” is the best track for two reasons. “Missing My Idols” is mostly just a rehash of his XXL freestyle but it sounds really clean over that beat so I wasn’t mad. The fact that he delivered two made me smile so hard. Ever since I heard it, I’ve been wishing one day he’d make another “Can You Rap Like Me?”. Listen to all of LIFES A TRIP online on JioSaavn. The songs were composed by Trippie Redd, a talented musician. There are a total of 14 songs in LIFES A TRIP. These are the two tracks where Trippie is just SPITTING. LIFES A TRIP is an English album released in 2018. You probably guessed, they’re “Missing My Idols” and “Oomp’s Revenge”. I’d be a sad excuse for a man if I didn’t end this review by praising my two favorite tracks on this album. But that’s just because it’s a little too sweet for me. Diplo’s production on the reworked version of “Wish” is the one I’d call the weakest. Those are the standouts but I actually wouldn’t call any of these beats “bad”.
“Forever Ever” and “UKA UKA” are two of the best produced tracks I’ve ever heard Trippie on. The biggest commendations should definitely go to this album’s production.
Although it does wean away from the sadness at the end. If a sad song’s what you want, I’d recommend “Taking A Walk”. A shame considering if he didn’t completely butcher the hook, it would make for a decent “sad song”. If “Together” is the best case scenario regarding his vocal control, “BANG!” is hands down the worst. He does let his vocals trail off into screeching territory several times but it’s not unbearable. It starts the album off on a somber note with Trippie reciting, I assume to himself, that he has to keep it together. The opening song “Together” is a good example of this. Which is a good thing, considering how many attempts he makes at emotional “ballads” throughout it. With that said, his vocal control is better on this album than it’s ever been. Any songs of his that have my interest lose it instantly when he starts screeching like a dying goat. I’m gonna get my biggest problem out of the way right now. The question is, how many of the stops were worth making? This album is also something I could describe as a trip. O hio rapper and recent XXL freshman Trippie Redd has released his debut album, “Life’s A Trip”.
